Example of a Modbus networkThe network can be tested with the Modbus package for configuring. The following steps should be used to test the network.
If you are testing a network that consists of more than one card, make sure that all of the cards are connected in parallel. See illustration 1. Verify that jumper J4 is not jumped on any of the network cards. Verify that jumper J6 is jumped on the last card in the chain. Jumper J6 should not be jumped on any other card.
Connect the female end of the RS232/485 converter to the PC that contains the configuration software. Connect the other end to the RS485 connector of the network card. Make sure that the polarity of the connections is correct.
Run the configuration software on the PC.
Press the "TEST" button and then verify that the settings in the "Communication Setting Section" match the settings of the network. If necessary, make changes to the settings and click on the "NEXT" button.
The software will scan the network. The serial numbers of the controllers will be displayed. The user can select any of the serial numbers. The user can execute a load test on the controller that is associated with the selected serial number. Only one controller can be tested at a time.
