This diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM records an erratic signal or an intermittent signal from the left grade offset switch.The following conditions could cause this diagnostic code to be activated:
The switch has failed.
The signal circuit is open.
A signal circuit is shorted to the +battery circuit.
The signal circuit is shorted to ground.
The signal circuits are shorted together.
The ECM has failed.Note: Ensure that CID 2261 FMI 07 is active and that the diagnostic code indicator is active.Test Step 1. CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE SWITCH.
Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the switch.

Measure the resistance between the connector contacts that are listed in Table 1. Note the resistance values.Expected Result:The measurements agree with the values that are listed in Table 1.Results:
OK - The measured resistances agree with the expected measurements that are listed in the table above. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The resistance measurements do not reflect the expected measurements that are listed in the table above. The switch has failed.Repair: Replace the switch.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK FOR A SHORTED HARNESS.
The left grade offset switch remains disconnected.
Turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the harness connector (J2) from the ECM.
At the harness connector for the ECM (J2), measure the resistance between contact J2-58
