Introduction
This article advises the use of 287-5667 Shims . Use additional shims when the bottom tapered wear pads have run out of adjustment.Problem
The bottom tapered wear pads may be thrown away prematurely when the adjustment screw is fully adjusted.Solution

Remove the block for the adjustment screw (1) from the extendable stick and back off the adjustment screw (2) .
Remove the two bolts (4) for the wear pad (3).
Position wear pad (3) to the most outward facing position. Illustration 1 shows the most outward facing position.
The clearance of the wear pad after adding additional shims should be no greater than 1 mm (0.040 inch).
Reinstall the block and the adjustment screw. The screw should be adjusted accordingly.
