9. Disconnect three upper radiator hoses (5). 10. Disconnect one lower radiator hose (8). 11. Install tooling (A), and support radiator assembly (12) with a hoist.
Always wear goggles when the air conditioning system is opened. This system is charged with Freon-12 (CCL2F2-Dichlorodifluoromethane) which is not toxic or flammable. But, there is a reason for caution. When Freon-12 makes contact with a flame, lethal PHOSGENE gas is made. INHALING FREON THROUGH A LIGHTED CIGARETTE CAN CAUSE VIOLENT ILLNESS. This system is under pressure at all times, engine running or not. HEAT MUST NEVER BE PUT ON A CHARGED SYSTEM. See Air Conditioning And Heating Service Manual, Form No. SENR3334 for more information on procedures and safety requirements on removal and installation of lines and refrigerant from the system.
12. Remove six bolts and washers holding air conditioning condenser assembly (9). Lift air conditioning condenser assembly (9) off the frame of radiator assembly (12), and set it aside.
As an alternate method, air conditioning condenser assembly (9) can be removed with radiator assembly (12), if desired. To remove air conditioning condenser assembly (9) with radiator assembly (12) requires removing the two refrigerant lines to air conditioning condenser assembly (9). See the topic "Purging The System" located in the Air Conditioning And Heating Service Manual, Form No. SENR3334 for the correct procedure.
13. Disconnect four hydraulic oil lines (10).14. Remove five bolts and washers (11) from each side of the base of radiator assembly (12).
Be sure when removing radiator assembly (12) that fan spider assembly (6) does not fall out of the opening in the back of radiator assembly (12).
15. Remove radiator assembly (12). The radiator assembly weighs 294 kg (650 lb). Be sure when removing radiator assembly (12) that fan spider assembly (6) does not fall out of the opening in the back of radiator assembly (12). The following steps are for the installation of the radiator assembly.16. Use a hoist to position the radiator assembly. Install five bolts and washers (11) at the base on each side of radiator assembly (12). Remove the hoist and tooling (A).17. Install air conditioning condenser assembly (9). If air conditioning condenser assembly (9) was removed with radiator assembly (12), connect the two refrigerant lines. See "Complete Charge Of The System" in the Air Conditioning And Heating Service Manual, Form No. SENR3334 for the correct procedure.18. Connect four hydraulic oil lines (10).19. Connect three upper radiator hoses (5), and one lower radiator hose (8) to radiator assembly (12).20. Fasten a nylon strap and a hoist to fan spider assembly (6), and secure in position with bolts and washers (7).21. Install two fan guard assemblies (3), and secure with bolts and washers (2) and (4).22. Install two hump hoses (1) onto the aftercooler tubes, and tighten the four clamps.23. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level.
