Alternator R-Terminal
The alternator R-terminal gives the VIMSTM 3G Main ECM the status of the charging system.The alternator R-terminal connects to the VIMS 3G Main ECM in the following way:
R-terminal pin 54 (wire 403-GN)Battery Inputs
The battery provides power to the VIMS 3G Main ECM. The battery connects to the VIMS 3G Main ECM in the following ways:
Battery+ pin 52 (wire 185-RD)
Battery- pin 65 (wire 201-BK)CAN Data-Link Inputs
The CAN data-link is also known as J1939 data-link. The data-link is an industry standard for sending high speed data between different devices in the same application. The CAN data-link connects to the VIMS 3G Main ECM in the following ways:
CAN low pin 34 (wire F712-GN)
CAN high pin 50 (wire F711-YL)Cat® Data-Link (CDL) Inputs
The Cat® data-link (CDL) is used for the following communication:
Between electronic control modules (ECMs)
With service tools
With the Monitoring System displayThe data-link is bidirectional, information can be sent and received. The data-link consists of the following machine components:

Harness connectorThe CDL connects to the VIMS 3G Main ECM in the following ways:
CDL + pin 8 (wire 893-GR)
CDL - pin 9 (wire 892-BR)RS-232 (Broadcast)
Serial three-wire data-link allows communication between the VIMS 3G Main ECM and other off-board systems that are not service tools. The onboard data can be passed from the machine when a radio telemetry system is connected to the port.Keyswitch

KeyswitchThe keyswitch is a rotary switch. The START position is a momentary position.The switch tells the VIMS 3G Main ECM that the operator wants to start the engine. The circuit is closed when the switch is in the START position. The keyswitch connects to the VIMS 3G Main ECM in the following way:
keyswitch pin 70 (wire 308-YL)Note: On machines that are equipped with the machine security system (MSS), the output for the start relay goes to the MSS. The MSS then sends an output to the start relay.10baseT Ethernet Interface Inputs
The 10baseT ethernet interface is used to connect a laptop computer during the configuration process.The VIMS 3G Main ECM utilizes an RS-232 service port (five-pin connector) to access and download service information. The 10baseT ethernet connects to the VIMS 3G Main ECM in the following ways:
10baseT TXD- pin 1 (wire R991-OR)
10baseT TXD+ pin 2 (wire R990-WH)
10baseT RXD- pin 14 (wire P998-GN)
10baseT RXD+ pin 15 (wire P992-BR)
