3. Use a flat-bladed screwdriver to pry off the silver pal nut at the end of the seat tilt rod.

4. Once the pal nut is removed, slide the rod out from the other side of the seat.
Be sure to note where all the plastic washers come out as they will be needed to reinstall the seat cushion.

5. Move the seat cushion forward and up until the seat cushion comes away from the slide plate.

6. Remove the bolt in the recliner handle using a 1/4 inch allen wrench. Free the cable from the handle.
Image1.6.1
7. To remove the recliner cable from the latch, channel locking pliers or vise grips are needed to compress the loaded latch. This gives the lower hole enough clearance to remove the cable.

8. With the latch clamped open, remove the cable Z-fitting.
Note: With the latch spring compressed the side bracket hardware does not have to be removed, but the nut could be taken out for additional clearance. Refer to Image1.8.1.

9. Continue to use the clamp on the latch. Replace the cable by reversing the process outlined in Step 8.
10. Unclamp the latch and hook the cable into the recliner handle.

11. Use a bolt with blue LocTite to secure the cable to the handle. Tighten until the latch begins to move away from the recliner gear, then back off a quarter turn.

12. Function test the recliner by pulling up on the handle. Using a pull scale on the recliner handle, test the force required to disengage the recliner gears. The force should not exceed 30 pounds.
13. If the recliner handle is sticking, loosen the two bolts on the middle recliner casting and break the latch free using the channel lock pliers. Allow the recliner latch to realign with the gear by cycling the back pan before retightening to 35 +/- 7 ft-lbs.
Installing Seat Cushion Assembly
14. Bring the seat cushion assembly to the slide plate and join the T feature to the window of the seat pan.

15. Reinstall the tilt rod, plastic washers and pal nuts through the seat pan. Use a small socket on one end of the rod and a hammer on the other end to tap the pal nut onto the rod. Refer to Image1.15.1.

16. To install the springs on either side of the seat pan, make sure the seat tilt is in the lowest position. Hook the top half of the spring through the hole in the seat pan. Then, using needle nose vise grips, pull the spring down and hook it through the hole in the slide plate.

17. Route the OPS harness out the back of the seat as shown in Image1.17.1. Bring the wire under the recliner shaft. Secure the connector with a single tie wrap through the hole in the slide plate.
