Remove Flywheel
1. Fasten a hoist to adapter (1). Remove bolts (2), and remove adapter (1) from the flywheel housing. The weight of adapter (1) is 52 kg (115 lb.).

Later2. Fasten a hoist to flywheel (4) with tooling (A).3. Remove two of bolts (3), and install two 1"-14 NF guide bolts approximately 8 in. (203 mm) long. Remove the remainder of the bolts. Note the alignment marks between the flywheel and the crankshaft for installation. 4. If necessary, install two 5/8"-11 NC forged eyebolts in each side of the flywheel, and use a pry bar to remove the flywheel from the pilot on the crankshaft.5. Remove flywheel (4) from the engine. The approximate weight of the flywheel is 109 kg (240 lb.). 6. Remove ring gear (5) from flywheel (4) with a punch and hammer if necessary. 7. If a 7N3227 flywheel is used, do not disassemble it for any reason. Individual piece parts are not serviced separately. The hub, disc assembly and flywheel and pilot surfaces are machined while the flywheel assembly is fastened (bolted) together.Install Flywheel
1. Heat the ring gear to a maximum temperature of 320°C (608°F). Install ring gear (1) on flywheel (2) with the tooth chamfer toward the engine when the flywheel is installed.
Earlier2. Install two 1"-14 NC guide bolts 11 in. (279.4 mm) long in the end of the crankshaft.
Later3. Fasten a hoist to flywheel (2) with tooling (A), and put it in position on the guide bolts. Make sure the mark on the flywheel is in alignment with the mark on the crankshaft. 4. Put 2P2506 Thread Lubricant on the threads of the bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 1150 60 N m (848 44 lb.ft.) with tool (B).5. Remove the hoist, tooling (A) and the guide bolts. Install the remainder of the bolts, and tighten them to a torque of 1150 60 N m (848 44 lb.ft.) with tool (B). 6. Check the flywheel runout with tooling (C). See 3500 Specifications, Form No. SENR2383-01, to check flywheel face runout, bore runout and the flywheel housing bore specifications. 7. Fasten a hoist to adapter (3), and install it in position on the flywheel housing.
