This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI31237" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Codeand "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI31237" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the March 27, 2007 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Service Claims Allowance to adjust the maximum allowable labor expense.

PROBLEM
The 21" 193-3288 Damper Gp needs to be replaced on certain 3508 Genset Engines with the 23" 1463740/">146-3740 Damper Gp. The existing 21" damper does not effectively dampen the torsional vibrations on these genset packages. This could result in a damper thermal overload condition that would reduce it's dampening capability by degrading damper internal fluid. Some packages may also experience issues with v-belt retention at low hours.

This rework should be performed immediately. Allow time for the engine to cool before starting this rework.
1. Remove damper as outlined within the "Removal Procedure" in media number SENR6564.
2. Replace damper with the damper (part number 1463740/">146-3740), as outlined within the "Installation Procedure" within the same SENR6564 publication.
