The screed extender must be extended to allow access for removal of two of the nuts that hold the deflector plates to the main screed assembly. The right hand plate overlaps the left hand plate and must be removed first.2. On the 8-16B screed, remove 16 nuts and washers (1). On the 10-20B and 10-20WB screed, remove twenty nuts (1) and washers. 3. Remove right hand and left hand deflector plates (2). 4. Remove twelve nuts (3) and washers (front row of nuts). When installing, apply 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the nuts.5. Start the engine. Raise the screed off the three nose bars (4). Move the machine FORWARD and away from nose bars (4). Stop the engine. There will be shims between the screed frame and the nose bars. Mark or identify for later installation. The nose bar should be set 0.00 mm to 1.5 mm (.000 to .060 in) maximum lower than the main screed plate. Closer to the 0.00 mm (.000 in) minimum tolerance is much more preferable than setting the nose bar to the maximum tolerance of 1.5 mm (.060 in). If any of the studs are removed, apply 4C-9507 Compound to the studs before installing. For installation of the main screed nose bars, reverse the removal steps.
