( 1 ) Before an adjustment is made, be certain that the valve spring is not weak or broken.
CHECK PRESSURE (EE) IN THE CLUTCH SUPPLY RAIL IN DIRECT DRIVE.
The following procedure is required in order to obtain direct drive with the transmission control in the NEUTRAL position. The harness for downshift solenoid (8) remains activated when the transmission is in NEUTRAL. The harness for downshift solenoid (8) will be used to supply power to lockup clutch solenoid (7) . The harness will supply +24 Volts to lockup clutch solenoid (7) . Connect the harness for downshift solenoid (8) to lockup clutch solenoid (7) in order to obtain direct drive in NEUTRAL.Note: In order to maintain 1300 rpm for this test, disconnect the throttle position switch that is located behind the cover in the front of the cab. Then, use the throttle backup switch.
Run the engine at medium idle (approximately 1300 rpm). Pressure (EE) in the clutch supply rail that is measured at pressure tap (C) should be 1724 172 kPa (250 25 psi).
If pressure (EE) in clutch supply rail (20) needs to be adjusted, adjust shims (22) in Station (D) on pressure control valve (11) .Note: Adding shims in Station "D" reduces the setting of pressure (EE) in clutch supply rail (20) . Removing shims in Station "D" increases the setting of pressure (EE) in clutch supply rail (20) .Note: Pressure (DD) for the transmission charging pump section and pressure (EE) in clutch supply rail (20) are entirely different values when the machine is in direct drive.

CHECK PRESSURE (DD) FOR THE TRANSMISSION CHARGING PUMP SECTION IN DIRECT DRIVE.
Be sure that the harness for downshift solenoid (8) is still connected to lockup clutch solenoid (7) . Operate the engine at medium idle (approximately 1300 rpm). Pressure (DD) for the transmission charging pump section that is measured at pressure tap (L) in direct drive should be 2310 70 kPa (335 10 psi).
