Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".

Disconnect harness assemblies (4) in order to remove temperature control valve (3).
Attach a suitable lifting device in order to remove temperature control valve (3). The weight of temperature control valve (3) is approximately 40 kg (88 lb). Remove bolts (5), the washers, and the nuts. Disconnect elbow (6) and remove the O-ring seal.
Remove bolts (2), the washers, and the nuts. Disconnect temperature control valve (3) from the elbow and remove the O-ring seal. Remove bolts (1), the washers, and the O-ring seal. Remove temperature control valve (3). Installation Procedure

Attach a suitable lifting device onto temperature control valve (3). The weight of temperature control valve (3) is approximately 40 kg (88 lb). Install a new O-ring seal and position temperature control valve (3). Install the washers and bolts (1). Install a new O-ring seal into the elbow. Position the elbow. Install the washers, the nuts, and bolts (2).
Install a new O-ring seal and position the elbow (6). Install the washers, the nuts, and bolts (5).
Connect harness assemblies (4).
Fill the cooling system with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".
