When testing and adjusting the transmission and power train, move the machine to an area clear of obstructions, with safe exhaust ventilation for the exhausts. Sudden movement of the machine or release of oil under pressure can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent possible injury, do the procedure that follows before testing and adjusting the transmission and power train.
Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location and away from operating machines and personnel. Place the shift lever in NEUTRAL. Stop the tractor engine and the scraper engine.
Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep all personnel away from the machine or in sight of the operator.
Activate the parking and secondary brakes. Lower the bowl to the ground. Lower the apron.
Position the rocker switch for the cushion-hitch (cab console) in the LOCKDOWN position. Position the rocker switch for the bail (cab console) in the BAIL DOWN position (if equipped). Make sure that the rear bracket assembly of the hitch is down against the front hitch assembly.
Make sure that the tractor transmission rotary selector spool is in the NEUTRAL position. Also, make sure that the scraper transmission selector shaft is in the NEUTRAL position.
Before any fittings are loosened, tightened, removed or adjusted, release all the hydraulic pressure.
Before any hoses are loosened, tightened, removed or adjusted, release all the hydraulic pressure.
Before any components are loosened, tightened, removed or adjusted, release all the hydraulic pressure.
Remove the breather from the implement hydraulic tank in order to release the pressure in the implement hydraulic system.

Remove plug (1) for the steering relief valve from the steering control valve. Remove shims (5), rod (4), spring (3) and poppet valve (2) from the steering control valve.
Install a plug (1) for the steering relief valve.Make reference to the following warning and pressure tap locations for all checks and tests of the power train hydraulic system. If the problem area is not known, perform the checks and tests in the order that is given. For all tests, the oil must be at normal temperature of operation.
