Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedure.

Disconnect hose assemblies (1). Remove elbow (2). Remove the O-ring seals.

Remove bolts (4) and covers (5). Remove bolts (3).

Remove bolts (12) and (13). Disengage latch (14) and remove exhaust shield assembly (11) by rotating and lifting towards the front of the engine.

Remove coupler (17) and tube assembly (18). Remove the O-ring seals.

Remove bolts (19) and remove elbow (20). Remove the gasket and the O-ring seal. Repeat for the opposite side.

Disconnect tube assembly (23). Remove the O-ring seals . Attach a suitable lifting device to water temperature regulator housing (21). The weight of water temperature regulator housing (21) is approximately 79 kg (174 lb). Remove bolts (22) and remove water temperature regulator housing (21). Installation Procedure
Install water temperature regulator housing (21) in the reverse order of removal.
