Charge Pump (Propel System)
Illustration 1 g03797458
Pump Compartment (1) Charge pump (2) Rotor transmission pumpCharge pump (1) for the propel system is located in the left pump stack, behind the left propel pump. The cab structure must be moved to the right and the left pump compartment door must be opened to access to this component.Charge pump (1) is the front section of a two-section, gear-type pump, which includes rotor transmission pump (2). The charge pump (1) and the rotor pump (2) share a common housing. The rotor pump (2) is splined to the charge pump (1). Each pump has a separate inlet port. The charge pump (1) draws oil from the hydraulic tank through suction strainers. The rotor transmission pump (2) draws oil from the transmission sump. When the engine is running, charge pump (1) rotates. The charge pump draws oil from the hydraulic tank and directs charge oil to port "E" of both propel pumps. The charge pump also supplies oil to port "G1" of the fan pump, and to port "P" of the motor shift manifold.Charge Filter (Propel System)
Illustration 2 g03797460
Right Side of Machine (1) Charge filter (2) Pressure switch (3) Charge pressure tap (4) S O S tapPropel system charge filter (1) is located on the right side of the machine, below the cab. Access to this component is direct. The base of charge filter (1) contains pressure switch (2) and a bypass valve. These components sense the pressure differential across the inlet and outlet sides of the filter. When the pressure differential across the filter is greater than 340 kPa (49 psi), the bypass valve opens, and the switch closes. In this case, oil flows around the charge filter, and the transmission ECM prompts a Level-1 fault on the display to alert the operator. The base of charge filter (1) also contains a pressure tap and a sampling tap. Charge pressure tap (3) is used to measure the charge system pressure at the filter outlet. S O S tap (4) is used to remove an oil sample at the filter inlet to monitor the wear of hydraulic system components.Shift Manifold
Illustration 3 g03797463
Left Side of Machine (1) Shift manifoldPropel motor shift manifold (1) is located on the left side of the machine, below the cab. Access to this component is gained from underneath the machine. The shift solenoid is located on shift manifold (1). This solenoid is controlled by the transmission ECM. When the shift solenoid is energized, the propel motors shift to high speed.Needle Valve
Illustration 4 g03797467
Left Side of Machine (1) Needle valveNeedle valve (1) is located on the left side of the machine, below the cab. The cab structure must be moved to the right, and the left rear tread grate must be opened to access to this component.Needle valve (1) controls oil flow for the parking brake actuators. During normal operation, the valve is fully open. For certain service calibrations, testing, and adjustments, the needle valve is closed to maintain parking brake engagement.
