Remove Generator
1. Remove covers (1) from the generator. Install brackets (2), one on each side as a support for rear of engine when generator is removed. 2. Remove the bolts (3) that hold the plate assembly to the flywheel.3. Remove the bolts that hold the generator to the flywheel housing. 4. Fasten a hoist to generator. Remove the four bolts which hold the generator on the fuel tank.5. Remove generator from engine. Weight is 2900 lb. (1315 kg).Install Generator
1. Remove cover for timing pointer, push the engine crankshaft forward with a bar, until there is zero end play. 2. Use tool (A) to measure the distance from face of flywheel housing (1) to surface of flywheel (2). 3. Take away the thickness of bar (3) from measured distance. 4. Measure the thickness of plate assembly (4).5. Add .2187 in. (5.356 mm) to plate assembly thickness.6. Take away the sum from dimension found in Steps 2 and 3. 7. Install number of shims (5) necessary to provide correct thickness to nearest 1/64 in. (0.4 mm). 8. Put the fan (6) in the generator. 9. Install shims (5) on the shaft. 10. Install plate assembly (7), bolts (8), and washers.11. Install guide pin 5/8"-11 NC 5" in. long in flywheel for alignment.12. Put the generator in position on the engine with a hoist. Install bolts that hold plate assembly to flywheel. Remove guide pin (10) and install other bolt.13. Install bolts that hold generator to flywheel housing. 14. Install the four bolts (11) that hold the generator to fuel tank.15. Install both covers for the fan.16. Install cover (9) to flywheel housing.17. Remove brackets (12) from engine.
