Typical Example.1. Remove drive shaft guard (4) from the machine.2. Disconnect hoses (1), (3) and (5) from the lockup valve.3. Remove the three bolts, washers and lockup valve (2) from the torque converter. Remove the two O-ring seals from the lockup valve. The following steps are for the installation of the lockup clutch valve.4. Put the two O-ring seals in position on the lockup valve. Put the lockup valve in position on the torque converter, and install the three bolts and washers that hold it. Hose (1) is from the transmission relay valve. Hose (3) is from the transmission lube port on the front right side of the transmission. Hose (5) is from the tee between the pump and brake valve.5. Connect hoses (1), (3) and (5) to the lockup valve as shown.6. Install drive shaft guard (4).Disassemble Torque Converter Lockup Clutch Valve

Typical Example. Bottom View Of Valve1. Remove cover (1) from body (18). Remove the O-ring seal from the cover.2. Remove body (2) from body (18).3. Disassemble body (2) as follows:a. Remove spring (7), orifice (6) and the O-ring seal from the body.b. Remove two springs (19), shims (20), piston (21) and piston (22) from the body.c. Remove plug (5) and remove decay orifice (plug) (4) from the body. Plug (3) is not present on 793 truck.4. Remove plug (15) and spring (13) from the body.5. Remove spool (9) and stop (8) from the body. Remove slug (14) from the spool.6. Remove the snap ring, retainer (12), spring (11) and ball (10) from the spool.7. Remove plug (17) and valve (16) from body (18).
Typical Example. Section B-B8. Remove cover (23) and spring (25) from the body. Remove the O-ring seal and shims (24) from the cover.9. Remove plug (28) and spool (26) from the body. Remove slug (27) from the spool.10. Remove the snap ring, retainer (31), spring (30) and ball (29) from spool (26).
Typical Example. Section C-C11. Remove plug (32) and connector (37) from the body.12. Remove spring (33), spool (34) and washer (35) from the body. Remove O-ring seal (36) from the spool.
Do not use caustic (corrosive) materials to clean any parts in this valve group. Caustic materials will cause corrosion and damage to parts.

Typical Example. Section C-C1. Install the O-ring seals on plug (32) and connector (37). Install O-ring seal (36) on spool (34).2. Put spool (34) washer (35) and spring (33) in position in the body as shown, and install plugs (32) and (37).
Typical Example. Section B-B3. Put ball (29), spring (30) and retainer (31) in position in spool (26) as shown. Install the snap ring that holds them.4. Put slug (27) in position in spool (26), and put them in the body as shown. Install the O-ring seal and plug (28).5. Put spring (25) in position in the body and spool.6.
