Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR1462, "Tire and Wheel - Remove and Install". The information is in this manual.

Remove the four bolts and the washers that secure two dust shields (1) to the axle housing. Use Tooling (A) to remove two springs (2) from two shoe assemblies (3) .

Remove wire (4) from two bolts (5) . Loosen bolts (5) that secure two pins (6) to the axle housing. Do not remove the bolts. Remove two springs (7) that secure two washers (8) and two felt washers to pin (6) . Repeat the procedure for the other pin.

Remove two pins (6) that secure shoe assemblies (3) to the axle housing. Remove two shoe assemblies (3) from the axle housing.

Remove cotter pin (9) that secures pin (10) to slack adjuster (11) and the brake actuator. Remove pin (10) that secures slack adjuster (11) to the brake actuator.

Pull the brake camshaft away from the axle housing. Remove slack adjuster (11) from brake camshaft (12) . Remove retaining ring (13) and washer (14) from brake camshaft (12) . Remove brake camshaft (12) from the axle housing. Remove washer (15) from brake camshaft (12) .

Remove three lip seals (16) and two needle bearings (17) from the axle housing.
