Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Personal injury can result from spring force released when removing cap screws.Internal spring force will be released when cylinder assembly cap screws are removed causing injury.Always restrain cover as cap screws are loosened.Follow the established procedure in the Service Manual to service these parts.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Install Tool (C) in place of the hydraulic tank cap.
Apply 345 kPa (50 psi) in order to pull a vacuum on the hydraulic tank.
Use the appropriate plate assembly from Tooling (A). Install the plate assembly between line (5) and main control valve (6) .
Install Tool (B) onto the test equipment.
Start the engine and run the engine at low idle.
Put the bowl on the ground and lower the apron against the bowl.
With the apron in HOLD position, look at the pressure gauge and move the joystick control for the bowl to the RAISE position. The pressure in the line for the apron should increase to 6550 700 kPa (950 100 psi).
When the pressure reaches 6550 700 kPa (950 100 psi), the sequence and pressure control valve will open. The oil from the rod end of the apron cylinder will flow through the sequence valve. This oil is bypassed into the head end of the apron cylinder.
If it is necessary to change the pressure setting of the sequence and pressure control valve, remove plug (1), piston (4) and spring (3) .
Add shims (2) between spring (3) and piston (4) in order to increase the pressure setting.
Remove shims (2) between spring (3) and piston (4) in order to decrease the pressure setting.Note: Assemble a 9J-1330 Shim next to spring (3).
