(4) Port"T"On machines with the front-wheel assist system, front-wheel assist motor (1) is mounted to the rearmost bogie wheel of each front-wheel bogie assembly. The front-wheel assist motor is a gerotor-type motor with a fixed displacement. The motor housing is mounted to the machine, and the spindle is bolted to the wheel.The front-wheel assist motors are connected in a series circuit with the propel motor on the corresponding side of the machine. When the front-wheel assist system is activated, the front-wheel assist manifold directs the oil to the forward ports of the front-wheel assist motors. The return oil from the front-wheel assist motors is then directed back to the propel pump via the front-wheel assist manifold.The front-wheel assist manifold controls the flow of supply oil to the motors. When supply oil is directed into port"A" (2) of the motor, the output shaft rotates clockwise. When supply oil is directed into port"B" (3) of the motor, the output shaft rotates counterclockwise.Case drain oil is directed out port"T" (4) of each motor to the hydraulic tank.When front-wheel assist operations are disabled, the front-wheel assist motors freewheel. When the machine is traveling forward, a check valve in the front-wheel assist manifold allows the motors to free-wheel. When the machine is traveling in the reverse direction, the bypass valves in the front-wheel assist manifold allow the motor to free-wheel.
