Overall Machine
The PR-105 has three separate hydraulic systems, each with its own hydraulic pump driven by the engine through the pump drive gearbox. Two of the hydraulic system pumps are driven directly by the pump drive gearbox. The third, the accessory hydraulic system pump, is driven by the pump drive gearbox acting through a belt and sheave arrangement.The three hydraulic systems are: 1. Wheel Drive (Travel) System - propels the left side wheels.2. Accessory System - powers and controls the hydraulic cylinders that provide auxiliary and main cutter elevation, machine tilt and steering. Also controls the flow of hydraulic oil to the auxiliary cutter motor and release of the emergency brake.3. Auxiliary Cutter Drive System - on machines equipped with an auxiliary cutter, powers the auxiliary cutter motor.Functions and components common to all the hydraulic systems are covered in this section. All the systems are covered in detail in the applicable sections of this book.Hydraulic Oil Storage In The Machine
Hydraulic oil for use in all systems is stored in the main hydraulic oil tank which has a sight gauge to show the oil level in the tank. If the oil level gets low, oil can be added to the system by using the replenishing hand pump. The replenishing pump transfers oil from the replenishing tank to the return filter, through the return filter to the main tank. The replenishing tank is also equipped with a sight gauge.The two-tank storage method allows new hydraulic oil to be easily added to the replenishing tank and at the same time provides a sealed tank for oil already in the system. The single opening to the atmosphere in the main oil tank is provided to allow the tank to breathe and is protected by a filter mounted on the tank.Three strainers mounted inside the main tank filter all the oil leaving the tank.Return And Case Drain
All of the hydraulic systems have a certain amount of hydraulic oil that must be returned to the oil tank. Although the hydrostatic transmission (wheel drive system) is a closed-loop system, there is always some leakage past the pump and motor pistons into the pump and motor cases, as well as the excess charge oil which is used to cool the pump and motors (see Wheels 1.0-8). The accessory hydraulic system has case drain oil from the accessory pump and return oil from the valves and cylinders in the system. On machines with an auxiliary cutter, the auxiliary cutter drive system is an open-loop system in which all the oil from the pump is returned to the hydraulic oil tank.All the hydraulic oil returning to the tank is routed in one of three ways: 1.
