Controlled Throttle During Shifting
The controlled throttle provides smoother shifting.On upshifts, this action is accomplished by briefly reducing the engine rpm for the duration of the shift. This reducing of the engine speed allows the engine speed to more closely match the transmission input speed at the end of the shift.On downshifts, this action is accomplished by briefly increasing the engine rpm for the duration of the shift. This increase of engine speed allows the engine speed to more closely match the transmission input speed at the end of the shift.When the brakes are applied, the normal controlled throttle shifting command is canceled. When the normal controlled throttle shifting command is not canceled, the stopping distance is greater. This action is due to the increase in engine speed during each downshift.Directional Shift Management Function
The directional shift management function reduces potential stress on the driveline. If the operator shifts the transmission from the neutral position or through the neutral position and the speed of the engine is greater than 1350 rpm, the ECM will send a command that will set the desired engine speed briefly to low idle.If the operator shifts the transmission from the neutral position or through the neutral position and the speed of the engine is greater than 1500 rpm, the ECM will record a transmission abuse event. In this case, the engine speed is so high that the brief override of the throttle is not sufficient to prevent this shift from being abusive to the driveline.Note: Shifts into neutral at high engine speeds are not abusive. Shifts into neutral do not trigger the abusive shift logic.
