Remove bolts (4) from center arm (2).

Support center arm (2) with Tooling (B). Use Tooling (A) to remove pin (6) from center arm (2). Remove center arm (2) and the shims. The weight of center arm (2) is approximately 31 kg (68 lb).

Verify that all of the components of the center arm (steering) are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.
Inspect all components for wear and replace the components, if necessary.

Lower the temperature of the two sleeve bearings. Use Tooling (D) to install the sleeve bearings. Install the sleeve bearings even with Surfaces (X) and (Y).

Use Tooling (B) to put center arm (2) in position. The weight of center arm (2) is approximately 31 kg (68 lb). Note: If necessary, use the shims in order to achieve a gap of 0.70 0.60 mm (0.028 0.024 inch).
Use Tooling (A) (not shown) in order to install pin (6). Orient the slot toward the slot in center arm (2).

Install lock (5) to center arm (2).

Install bolts (4) to center arm (2). Install fitting (3). Connect the grease hose assembly.

Apply Tooling (F) to the taper of the ball studs. Install the ball studs to center arm (2).
Tighten slotted nut (6) to a torque of 1360 N m (1000 lb ft). If the holes do not line up, advance slotted nut (6) to the next hole. Install the two cotters.
Align the front wheels. Refer to Steering System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Front Wheel - Align". End By:
Remove the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
