Fuel filter differential pressure must be monitored. An electrical monitoring device must be connected to a differential pressure switch mounted in the fuel filters priming pump adapter plate.Do not fill fuel filter housings with fuel before installing elements. Contaminated fuel will cause accelerated wear to fuel system components.
Fuel filters should be changed every 250 service hours, monthly, or when monitoring device indicates a high differential pressure, whichever occurs first. The primary fuel filter should be cleaned each time the elements are changed.Clean Primary Fuel Filter
1. Stop the engine.2. Close the fuel supply line valve. 3. Loosen nut (1) on the cover and remove case (3).4. Remove filter element (2). Wash the element and case in clean, nonflammable solvent.5. Do not overtighten the filter.
7. Open the fuel supply valve.8. Prime the fuel system. See "Priming the Fuel System."9. Start the engine and inspect for leaks.Priming the Fuel System
1. Make certain the fuel supply line valve is open. 2. Turn the pump handle knob counterclockwise. Release the lock plate from the retainer on the fuel priming pump.3. Operate the fuel priming pump until the air in the fuel system has been pumped through the fuel return line to the fuel tank.4.
