Introduction
The new 6T3670 Sender Assembly replaces the former 674024 Sender Assembly. The new sender assembly is intended for use in the above machines. Because of the different dimensions of the fuel tanks used in the above machines, the sending unit assembly will require length adjustment to maintain fuel level gauge accuracy.Reference: Service Manual, Parts Book.Installation
Adjust side B and side C of the sending unit to the lengths shown in the chart. This is necessary to maintain readout accuracy due to fuel tank size differences between models.
(B) Float arm length. (C) Potentiometer length.
(B) Float arm.1. Make a slight bend in the float arm at its defined length (B). Cut off the excess length, approximately 12.7 mm (.50 in) from the bend.2. Insert the bent end of the float arm into the hole on the potentiometer clip. Crimp the float arm into the clip.
(C) Potentiometer.3. Install a new 9C2292 Gasket for the fuel tank sender opening. Insert the float and potentiometer into the tank and tighten the potentiometer screws at the proper dimension (C).4. Secure the sending unit by installing and tightening the five mounting screws.5. Connect the electrical wires to the sending unit.
