Extend the counterweight cylinder until the safety link engages the pin on the counterweight frame.

Engage the safety link. Close the counterweight cylinder in order to ensure that the safety link is engaged.
Stop the engine.

Move the counterweight control lever to both of the positions in order to release the pressure in the counterweight hydraulic circuit.

Attach a 6V-7830 Tetragauge to the pressure tap that is shown on the pilot pressure control valve. The pilot pressure control valve is located at the right rear corner of the machine behind an access panel. Start the engine and set the throttle to the HIGH IDLE position.
Move the counterweight control lever to the RETRACT position. The high reading on the gauge is the setting of the counterweight relief valve.

The pressure from step 6 should be 5000 25 kPa (725 4 psi). If the pressure is not correct adjust the counterweight relief valve to the correct pressure. Turn adjustment screw (1) clockwise in order to increase the pressure. Turn adjustment screw (1) counterclockwise in order to decrease the pressure.
