The engine may experience low power.E162(2)
Engine power will be derated.Test Step 1. Check for "ACTIVE" Diagnostic Codes.
Start the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET).
Restore the electrical power to the ECM. The engine should be OFF.
Check for any active diagnostic codes or logged diagnostic codes. Wait at least 30 seconds in order for the codes to become active. Expected Result:No diagnostic codes are present.Results:
OK - No diagnostic codes are present.Repair: Check the "turbine nozzle ring" for excessive carbon buildup. If necessary, clean the "turbine nozzle ring". Talk to the operator. Excessive engine load can result in high boost pressure.If an intermittent problem is suspected, refer to the diagnostic functional test Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect".STOP
Not OK - Diagnostic codes are present.Repair: Repair the diagnostic codes that are present. Refer to the appropriate topic in the "Troubleshooting With a Diagnostic Code" section of this manual.Ensure that the repair eliminates the problem.STOP
