ACTION REQUIRED
Replace the two existing housings with new improved housings and rework the carrier assembly. The carrier assembly must have a milled slot centered between the two bearing cap holes per the attached Rework Procedure in order to provide adequate clearance for the new housings.

If there has been a previous repair, part age/hours will apply. Retain a copy of the previous repair invoice in the dealer's records for audit purposes, and specify repair date and machine hours in the "Additional Comments" section of the warranty claim.
This is a 2.0-hour job to mill the slot in the differential carrier.
No D&A labor is allowed since this program is to be implemented at PCR. This applies to housings that are cracked or not reusable from fretting based on the reusability guidelines shown in SEBF8227.

Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
Mill a 65 mm slot centered between the two bearing cap holes into the 104-9408 or 273-2167 differential carrier, part of 104-9407 or 266-2093 carrier assemblies which are part of 104-9406 or 266-2092 carrier assemblies. The slot should be 7.6 mm from the bearing surface.
