1/2 - 13 by 4 inch 2 Start By:
Remove the bottom guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Bottom Guard - Remove".
Remove the axles. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle - Remove".
Remove the drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Main Drive Shaft - Remove".

Position ripper (1) , as shown.
Remove the ripper control valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Ripper Control Valve - Remove".

Attach a suitable lifting device onto guard assembly (2) . The weight of guard assembly (2) is approximately 145 kg (320 lb). Disconnect hose assembly (3) . Remove bolts (4) .
Repeat Step 3 for the opposite side.

Remove bolts (5) and (6) . Remove guard assembly (2) .
Drain the power train oil into a suitable container for storage or for disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transmission System Oil and Screens - Change/Clean".

Remove bolts (7) and reposition hose assembly (8) .

Remove filter (9) . Disconnect harness assemblies (10) and (14) . Disconnect hose assemblies (11) and (12) . Remove cover (13) .

Install Tooling (A) onto transmission and bevel gear (18) . Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device onto Tooling (A) . The weight of transmission and bevel gear (18) is approximately 1588 kg (3500 lb). Install Tooling (D) . Remove bolts (19) , (20) and (20a) . Slide out transmission and bevel gear (18) . Position transmission and bevel gear (18) on suitable cribbing. Remove Tooling (A) and (B) .
