Information:
At the Inverter Cabinet. Remove the cover (4) for the low voltage compartment that contains the motor control ECMs and the interface modules.
At the Motor 1 ECM, disconnect the J1 cabinet harness connector. Examine the pins and sockets on the ECM and on the J1 connector. Ensure that all the pins and sockets are secured in the connector, the contacts are clean, and the contacts are in good condition.
At the Motor 1 ECM, disconnect the J2 connector. Examine the pins and sockets on the ECM and on the J2 connector. Ensure that all the pins and sockets are secured in the connector, the contacts are clean, and the contacts are in good condition.
At the disconnected J1 connector, use a multimeter to measure the resistance between the Speed Sensor 1 Signal B contact J1-4 (wire PG1-B-BK(Black)) and all the other circuit contacts that are used on the J1 and the J2 connector for the Motor 1 ECM.
If any of the resistance measurements in the two prior steps are less than 4000 ohms, proceed to the "Expected Result" step and proceed. If no short circuits between the signal circuit and any of the circuits in the ECM connectors is indicated, continue to the next step.
On the outside of the Inverter Cabinet, disconnect the CX-C3 machine harness connector from the CN1 cabinet connector.
At the machine harness CX-C3 connector, use a multimeter to measure the resistance between the Speed Sensor 1 Signal B at contact 25 (wire K427-OR(Orange)) and all the other circuit contacts that are used on the CX-C3 connector.Expected Result:Each of the individual resistance measurements between the speed sensor signal A circuit and each of the other Motor 1 ECM circuits and / or machine harness connector circuits is greater than 4000 ohms.Results:
OK - Each of the individual resistance measurements is greater than 4000 ohms. The resistance measurements for the speed sensor circuits are indicating that there is not a short circuit between the sensor signal A circuit and any other circuit. Proceed to Test Step 5.
NOT OK - One or more of the individual resistance measurements are less than 4000 ohms. There is a short circuit between the speed sensor signal A circuit and another circuit.Repair: The Speed Sensor 1 connection diagram at the beginning of this procedure shows all the Speed Sensor 1 circuit connections that are in the Inverter Cabinet. For complete machine harness and connector information in the circuits between the cabinet connectors and the speed sensor in the rear axle housing, refer to the complete machine electrical system schematic.Locate and examine all the circuit connections that are used in the suspected sections of the speed sensor circuit. Check each connector in the circuits for moisture or contamination that could cause a short circuit. Ensure that all connections are clean, secure, and in good condition. Check each wire section from connector to connector for a short circuit.Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 5. CHECK THE STATUS OF THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE
