When the swing joystick is operated, the swing parking brake is released, and the swing motor begins to operate. The swing drive reduces the motor speed in two stages before rotating the upper structure.Swing Left
When the left pilot valve (joystick) is moved to the left, pilot oil (A) from the pilot valve (joystick) shifts the spool in the swing control valve (3). Oil is routed from the gear pump (4) to main control valve (1) by the pilot and travel speed manifold (5). The pump receives oil from the tank through hydraulic line (D). From the manifold, the oil flows to the swing motor (2) through the swing control valve. The swing motor rotates the cab to the left through a planetary gear train.Swing Right
When the left pilot valve (joystick) is moved to the right, pilot oil (B) from the pilot valve (joystick) shifts the spool in the swing control valve (3) in the opposite direction from the SWING LEFT position. Oil is routed from the gear pump (4) to main control valve (1) by the pilot and travel speed manifold (5). The pump receives oil from the tank through the hydraulic line (D). From the manifold, the oil flows to the swing motor (2) through the swing control valve. Parking brake (parking brake engaged) (1) Brake piston (2) Spring (3) Disc plate (4) Barrel (5) CaseDisc plate (3) is splined to barrel (4). When the hydraulic oil that flows to the parking brake is shut off, spring (2) forces brake piston (1) against case (5). Then, the barrel and the case are held together by the force of friction, and the drive shaft is locked.

Parking brake (RELEASED) (1) Brake cylinder spaceWhen pilot oil enters brake cylinder space (1), the pressure of the oil shifts the brake piston against the force of the spring. Then, the barrel and the case are not held together by the force of friction, and the drive shaft can rotate freely.
