PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
1. Separate the tracks and remove the left and right steering clutch and brake groups.
2. Disassemble the steering clutch and brake groups. Remove the steering clutch from the brake module without disassembling the steering clutch. Remove 106-0476 retainer (1) and 237-0930 piston (2) from both the left and right brake groups as shown in Image 1.1.1. Refer to RENR8166 for disassembly and assembly information.

3. Modify the retainers to add four notches in each part at 90? intervals as shown in images 1.2.1 and 1.2.2. Modify the pistons to add four notches in each part at 90? intervals as shown in images 1.2.3 and 1.2.4. The notches should be 2 +/- .25 mm (0.079 +/- 0.010 inch) deep with a 6.35 mm (0.250 inch) radius as shown in Image 1.2.5. Be sure to thoroughly clean and deburr all parts after machining.

4. Replace the existing 6P-5317 (3), 6T-2037 (4), 4F-7398 (5), 9G-2991 (6), 8M-4389 (7), and 9H-3360 (8) seals inside of each brake module with new seals as shown in Image 1.4.1. Also replace the existing 8D-4771 seal between the brake module and final drive with a new seal.

5. Reassemble both steering clutch and brake groups and reinstall on the tractor.
6. Upon reinstallation of both final drives on the tractor, use the 5P-5422 bolts, 2M-5656 nuts, and 5P-8250 washers to reattach the sprocket segments if they were previously removed.
7. Reconnect the track on the machine using the new 7T-0998 and 7T-0999 master links bolts.
8. Perform the brake touchup calibration and steering clutch high pressure calibration using Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET) after the machine is fully reassembled.
