1. Install new o-rings and back-up rings onto the freespool piston. Install the back-up rings toward the outer ends of the piston. The cupped side of the back-up rings must face toward the o-ring. 2. Place the freespool housing on the workbench with the internally splined end down. Lubricate the sealing surfaces of the freespool cylinder and the seal rings with gear oil and install the freespool piston into the freespool housing. 3. Install a new o-ring onto the freespool end cap. Install the freespool piston spring into the freespool piston. Lubricate the sealing surfaces of the freespool cylinder and end cap seal ring with gear oil. 4. Install the end cap into the freespool housing and evenly tighten the capscrews to 18 lb ft (24 N m) torque. If the freespool housing has been removed, install the freespool housing into the end bracket with the oil level plug close to the drum centerline (3 or 9 o'clock position); the drain plug near the bottom (6 o'clock position) and the fill plug near the top (12 o'clock position). Tighten the capscrews to 75 lb ft (102 N m). 5. Install a new bearing into the drum if replacement is necessary. Apply non-hardening sealant to the outside diameter of the new seal. With the spring side of the seal toward the bearing, press the seal into the drum using a flat steel plate to avoid distortion. 6. Place the freespool cylinder/end bracket assembly on the workbench with the splined end of the cylinder facing upward. Lubricate the sealing surfaces of the cylinder assembly with gear oil and carefully lower the drum onto the freespool cylinder. 7. Install the output planet carrier subassembly into the drum while slowly rotating the carrier to align the planet gears with the ring gear and the splined planet housing with the splined freespool piston. 8. Install the output sun gear and output planet carrier thrust washer into the output planet carrier. 9. Install the primary planet carrier into the drum while slowly rotating the carrier to align the planet gears with the ring gear and the splined planet housing with the output sun gear. Install the input thrust washer into the input planet carrier. 10. Install a new bearing into the drum closure if replacement was required. Apply non-hardening sealant to the outside diameter of the oil seal and install the seal into the drum closure with the spring side toward the bearing. Press the seal into the drum closure with a flat steel plate to avoid distortion. Install a new o-ring in the groove on the outside diameter of the drum closure. 11. Lubricate the o-ring and drum opening with gear oil and install the drum closure into the drum. Install the input sun gear into the input planet carrier. 12. Install the tie plates onto the freespool housing end bracket leaving the capscrews only finger tight to allow for clearance and ease of installation of the motor end bracket. Install the motor
