Procedure For Front Wheel Bearing Adjustment
1. To obtain the bearing preload with a vertical or horizontal assembly of parts, assemble the axle, retainer, wheel bearings, wheel and retainer plate using seven bolts in the retainer.2. Tighten the seven bolts to 50 N m (37 lb ft) while rotating the wheel at least three revolutions.3. After bolts stabilize at 50 N m (37 lb ft), loosen bolts 60 degrees (one flat).4. Retighten bolts to 30 5 N m (22 4 lb ft) while rotating the wheel.5. Measure the gap from the end of the spindle to the bottom of the retainer plate. Select shims from shim pack equal to gap minus 0.07 0.03 mm (.003 .001 in).6. Apply 9S3263 Sealant to fourteen retainer bolt threads. Install shims selected in Step 5 and fourteen retainer bolts. Tighten bolts to 530 70 N m (390 52 lb ft).
