A machine may shift if improper procedures or equipment are used for lifting and tying down for transport. Ensure that proper equipment and procedures are used for lifting and tying machines down for transport. If a machine shifts it could cause personal injury or death.

A decal with shipping information is located on the right side of the machine. The decal shows the lifting points and the tie-down points. The decal also shows the machine weight. The 125-7721 Decal that is shown above is installed on TH62 and on TH82 machines. The 122-8205 Decal is installed on TH63 and on TH83 machines.

Use equipment which is rated for the weight of the machine that is being lifted.
Spreader bar widths should be sufficient in order to prevent damage to the machine.
Attach the equipment to the four lifting points that are provided.

Install tie-downs which are rated for the weight of the machine. Install the tie-downs at the four locations that are provided.
Chock the front road wheels and the rear road wheels of the machine.
Engage the parking brake and move the transmission control to the NEUTRAL position.
Ensure that the boom is fully retracted. Ensure that the boom is lowered.
Stop the engine and remove the engine start switch key.
Cover the outlet of the exhaust pipe in order to prevent possible damage to the engine turbocharger.If you are in doubt, consult your Caterpillar dealer for more information.
