Apply Tooling (E) onto the taper of suspension cylinder (6). Use Tooling (D) and two suitable lifting devices to install spindle (5) onto suspension cylinder (6).

Install bolts (7). Repeat this step for the opposite side of the spindle.
Use Tooling (G) to align the bolt holes that are in the suspension rod with the bolt holes that are in the steering arm.
Install Tooling (A).

Use Tooling (B) and two suitable lifting devices to position steering arm (1) onto spindle (5). The weight of steering arm (1) is approximately 309 kg (681 lb). Install three of bolts (3) that are separated by 120 degrees. Remove Tooling (B). Tighten three of bolts (3) to a torque of 203 27 N m (150 20 lb ft). Use Tooling (F) to measure the gap between the end of suspension cylinder (6) and the surface of steering arm (1). Loosen three of bolts (3). Install Tooling (B) and two suitable lifting devices. Remove three of bolts (3). Remove steering arm (1).

Install shim pack (4) that is equal to the measurement that was obtained in Step 5 minus 8.6 0.03 mm (0.3386 0.0012 inch). The thickness of shim pack (4) must not be less than 0.64 mm (0.025 inch).

Use Tooling (B) and two suitable lifting devices to position steering arm (1) onto spindle (5). The weight of steering arm (1) is approximately 309 kg (681 lb). Install bolts (3). Remove Tooling (B). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 1800 200 N m (1328 148 lb ft). Remove Tooling (A).Note: The expected clearance between the shim pack and the steering arm is 0.00 to 0.13 mm (0.000 to 0.005 inch).

Install bolts (2). Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 800 50 N m (590 37 lb ft). Tighten bolts (2) by an additional 120 degrees.End By:
Install the service and parking brake. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Service and Parking Brake (Front) - Install".
