This article is being published again as an instruction for newer technicians.This article describes a method of finding the latest flash file for 3500B Diesel Engines. In the following steps, you will need to know the part number for the "as shipped" flash file.If you do not know the part number for the "as shipped" flash file, access TMI web. In the left column, select "Engine/Parts Data". Enter the serial number of the engine in the "Reference Number" field. In the next field, select "Serial Number" from the drop-down menu. Click on the "Retrieve Data" radio button. The part number for the "as shipped" flash file is shown at the top of the page.Record the part number of the "as shipped" flash file and proceed with the following instructions.

Access SIS web and click on "Flash Software Files".

Click on "readxref.txt".

Click on "READXREF.TXT" at the left side of the page.

Click on "Edit" in the menu bar at the top of the page. Select "Find (on This Page)" from the drop-down menu.

In the "Find" dialog box, enter the part number for the "as shipped" flash file. Click the "Find Next" radio button.Note: In step 5, enter the part number with the dash mark. Refer to Illustration 5.
