Change Oil-Clean Screens and Breather
1. Remove the transmission drain plug. Allow the oil to drain. Clean and install the drain plug. 2. Remove the oil sump drain plug. Allow the oil to drain. Clean and install the drain plug.3. Change the transmission oil filter element. Clean the strainer and the magnets. See "Transmission System" at "Every 500 Service Hours or 3 Months."Transmission Sump Screen
1. Remove the transmission case sump screen and cover assembly. 2. Remove the retaining nut (1) and separate the screen (2) from the cover.3. Wash the screen and cover in clean nonflammable solvent. Allow the parts to dry.4. Install the screen and retaining nut on the cover. Replace the cover seal if damaged. Install the cover and screen assembly.Flywheel Housing Sump Screen
1. Remove flywheel housing sump drain plug (1). Allow the oil to drain.2. Disconnect sump tube (2) from the end of the screen housing.3. Remove bolts (3) holding the housing to the drive shaft housing.4. Lower the housing. 5. Remove the screen. Wash it in clean nonflammable solvent.6. Inspect the seals on the housing and on the tube assembly. Replace any damaged seals.7. Install the screen.8. Install the housing and connect the tube. 9. Clean and install the drain plug.10. Remove the fill cap. Fill the transmission with oil. See "Refill Capacities" chart.11. Clean and install the cap.12. Start the engine and allow the oil to warm and fill the filter. Check for leaks.13. Check the oil level with the engine running at LOW IDLE. 14. Maintain the oil level to the FULL mark on the sight gauge.15. Stop the engine and add oil if necessary.Breather
1. Unscrew and remove the transmission breather from the top of the differential case.2. Wash the breather in clean nonflammable solvent. Shake it to remove excess solvent and allow it to dry.3. Install the breather.Differential and Final Drives Breather

1. Remove the differential and final drive breather from the top of the differential case.2. Wash the breather in clean nonflammable solvent. Shake it to remove excess solvent and allow it to dry. Install the breather.Wheels
Check Coolant Level
With a lack of wheel coolant, personal injury or death can result. The brakes can generate enough heat to burn the tire bead. A burning bead produces gases inside the tire that can explode, endangering personnel within 500 meters (1500 feet).
1. Position each tractor and each scraper wheel so the coolant fill plug is level with the center line of the axle.2. Remove the plug. Maintain the wheel coolant level to the bottom of the plug opening with a solution of 80% water and 20% Caterpillar antifreeze or any commercially available ethylene glycol-type antifreeze.3.
