Install lower half of main bearing (6) into lower cylinder block (11).

Install lower half of thrust bearing (10). Apply Tooling (A) to main bearing (11).
Illustration 3 g02802435Note: If a new crankshaft is installed, the timing adjustment procedure must be completed. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Timing Adjustment".
Use a suitable lifting device and install crankshaft (1) into the lower cylinder block.

Install two upper half thrust bearings (9) into the gear end of the crankshaft (1).

Install upper main bearing (8) into upper cylinder block (7).
Apply Tooling (B) to mating surface of lower cylinder block (6).
Use a suitable lifting device and install upper cylinder block (7) onto crankshaft (1) and lower cylinder block (6).

Apply clean engine oil to bolts. Install bolts (5) and torque to 138.0 to 147.0 N m (102 to 108 lb ft).
Install bolts (4) and torque to 59.0 to 63.0 N m (44 to 46 lb ft).

Install connecting rod caps (2) on crankshaft (1). Apply clean engine oil to bolts (3) and install bolts (3). Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 69 to 73 N m (51 to 54 lb ft). Note: Refer to Guideline For Reusable Parts, SEBV0544, "Engine Bearings and Crankshafts" for complete details concerning the measurement of bearing clearances.End By:
Install the front housing.
Install the flywheel housing.
Install the oil pan.
