Illustration 1 g01113762Propel Diagnostic Code LampThis diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM reads the current of the lamp as below normal (open circuit).The possible causes of this diagnostic code are:
The energize circuit of the lamp is open.
The return circuit of the lamp is open.
The lamp is malfunctioning.
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.System Response:The results of this diagnostic code are:
Propel diagnostic code lamp on the machine operator's station will NEVER be ON.Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code CID 040 FMI F05 for the lamp is on hold and that the diagnostic code present indicator on the ECM display is ON.Test Step 1. Check Lamp
Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
Disconnect the machine harness from the lamp.
At the machine harness connector for the lamp, place a jumper from connector contact number 1 to connector contact number 2.
Observe the status of the diagnostic code present indicator. Expected Result:When the jumper is installed, the diagnostic code present indicator should turn OFF. When the jumper is removed, the diagnostic code present indicator should turn ON.Results:
OK - The diagnostic code present indicator does turn OFF when the jumper is installed and does turn ON when the jumper is removed. Repair: The circuit is correct. The lamp is malfunctioning. Replace the lamp.STOP
NOT OK - The diagnostic code present indicator does not turn OFF when the jumper is installed or does not turn ON when the jumper is removed.Repair: There is an open circuit in the machine harness. Proceed to Test Step 2.Test Step 2. Check Harness For Open Circuits
Turn the key start switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the ECM.
At the machine harness connector for the lamp, place a jumper from connector contact number 1 to connector contact number 2.
At the machine harness connector, measure the resistance from the signal circuit at connector contact 38 (wire P415-BU(Blue)) to the return circuit at connector contact 39 (wire P202-BR(Brown)). Expected Result:The resistance should measure less than 5.0 ohms (continuity).Results:
OK - The resistance does measure less than 5.0 ohms (continuity). Proceed to Test Step 3
NOT OK - The resistance measures more than 5.0 ohms.Repair: There is an open in the diagnostic code lamp circuit. The open is either in the energize signal circuit (wire P415-BU(Blue)) or in the return circuit (wire P202-BR(Brown)) of the machine harness. Repair the machine harness or replace the machine harness.STOPTest Step 3. Check To See If Diagnostic Code Remains
Clean the contacts of the harness connectors.
Reconnect all harness connectors.
Turn the key start switch to the ON position.
Enter service mode 1 on the ECM three digit display. Clear all inactive diagnostic codes.
Operate the machine.
Check to see if the CID 040 FMI F05 diagnostic code for the lamp is present (diagnostic code present indicator ON). Expected Result:The CID 040 FMI F05 diagnostic code for the lamp is not present.Results:
OK - The CID 040 FMI F05 diagnostic code for the lamp is not present. The machine harness and the ECM are operating properly.Repair: The initial
