Dimension (B) is the clearance between spacer (19) and center pin (20). Dimension (B) operates with belleville springs (27). These components maintain the correct separation between cylinder barrel (18) and port plate (17). The maximum separation limits leakage during start-up and during downhill operation. See Illustration 1 for the references on components.The adjustment procedure determines the correct size of spacer (19) in order to obtain dimension (C).

Place support (36) on a smooth surface.
Use gauge blocks to obtain dimension (C) in Table 1. Dimension (C) is measured between the center of the pivot head of center pin (20) and center pin (29). When dimension (C) is correct, clearance (B) between spacer (19) and center pin (20) is 0.25 to 0.40 mm (0.010 to 0.016 inch).
Zero the gauge on the dial indicator.

Use a piece of wire (37) in order to guide spacer (19) into bore (38) of cylinder barrel (18) .
Place the center pin in bore (38) without belleville springs (27) .

Insert cylinder barrel (18), spacer (19) and center pin (20) into center hole (42) in support (36) .
Place cylindrical mount (41) in a vertical position. Insert center pin (29) in port plate (17) and cylinder barrel (18). Install disc (39) with two lifting screws (40) over the port plate.
Move the assembled drive components and test tools under the dial indicator. The correct reading on the dial indicator is -0.25 to -0.40 mm (-0.010 to -0.16 inch). Spacers of four different thicknesses are provided for the adjustment of the lift-off limitation of the steering motor. The spacers differ in thickness by increments of 0.10 mm (0.004 inch).

When the correct spacer has been selected, center pin (20) can be removed. Six belleville springs (27) can be installed with a piece of wire (37) as a guide.
