BRACKET AS 3123429 - Caterpillar

1. Drain the engine cooling system capacity 48 U.S. gal. (181.7 liters).2. Drain the engine crankcase. Capacity is 18.75 U.S. gal. (71 liters). 3. Remove tube (1) between the water pump and oil cooler.4. Remove the front section (2) of the oil pan.5. Remove the oil pump front sump suction tube. 6. Disconnect tube (3) and remove oil filler pipe (4).7. Remove the bolts from the rear section of oil pan and lower the oil pan to the differential housing.8. Put a wire on each side of the front of the pan to hold it in place. 9. Remove the bolts from baffle (5) and remove baffle from inside of pan.10. Bend the locks on the oil pump bolts. 11. Loosen the two bolts in front of the oil pump and put tool (A) in position between the bolt heads and pump.12. Remove the two bolts from the rear of the pump.13. Loosen the two front bolts (6) and (7) evenly and lower the oil pump on to the pan.14. Remove the rear section of oil pan and oil pump as a unit. Weight is 140 lb. (63.5 kg).Install Oil Pan And Oil Pump
1. Put the oil pump and tool (A) in position on the rear section of the oil pan. Make sure the notches in tool (A) are in alignment with the bolt holes in oil pump. 2. Lift the oil pan and oil pump into position on the differential housing. Put a wire from the block to the front of oil pan on each side to hold pan in place.3. Push up on tool (A) and lift the oil pump into position on the cylinder block. Install the two bolts and locks in front of the pump. Make sure the oil pump is engaged in the idler gear. Tighten the two bolts until pump is against the block.4. Install the two bolts and locks in rear of pump. Remove tool (A) and tighten the front bolts. Bend the locks on all four bolts. 5. Install the baffle plate inside of the oil pan.6. Remove the wire from front of the oil pan.7. Put the oil pan in position on the block and install the bolts loosely. Do not tighten the bolts in the rear section of the oil pan before the front section is installed.8. Install the oil filler pipe and connect oil tube to pan.9. Install the oil pump front sump suction tube. 10. Install the front section of the oil pan. Tighten the bolts that hold the front section to the rear section of the oil pan.11. Tighten all of the oil pan bolts.12. Install the tube between the water pump and oil cooler.13. Fill the crankcase and cooling system to the correct levels.
