Component Codes 6107 7070SUBJECT: 132-8574 Linkage Bearing Cracks
PROBLEM:
The 132-8574 bearing that is used in the A, Y and K pin joints of the 992G may crack at an outer edge and cause the pin joint to fail. The bearing OD chamfer may be too large (limited to several manufacturing lots), causing high stress in that location and resulting in fatigue cracks. Bearings with large OD chamfers are more likely to crack if the large OD chamfer is on the loaded side.
SOLUTION:
The OD chamfer on both ends of the bearing should not exceed 9 mm (0.354 inch) from the face of the bearing. Design tolerances are being changed in order to control the OD chamfer size on the bearing. Plant and part inventories have been inspected.
Dimension "A" is the distance from the end of the chamfer to the face of the bearing. Dimension "A" should be less than 9 mm (0.354 Inch).
