The 5P4210 Tilting Cylinder is equipped with valves which prevent the weight of a modular cab from getting ahead of the cylinder travel and hydraulic pump operation as the cab is being raised or lowered. If the valves are not properly adjusted, the cab can drop suddenly after it passes over the center position. Anytime the valve is disassembled for cleaning or replacement of O-ring seals, the spools and poppets must be correctly adjusted so the cylinder and valve will operate correctly.
Procedure To Test And Adjust The 5P4210 Modular Cab Tilting Cylinder And Valve:

It is possible that oil will flow from the cylinder during the testing and adjusting procedure. Put the cylinder in the bed of the cylinder repair stand or on a work bench. Make sure the cylinder rod is free to extend. Check the accuracy of the 5P4816 Gauge with the 5P8558 Pressure Gauge Calibrating Group before the testing and adjusting procedures are done. The cylinder rod can be extended or retracted with the pump hoses connected to ports "D" and "H".No. 1-Retract Relief Valve Adjustment
Make sure the cylinder rod is retracted completely. Connect the pump hose with the gauge to Port "D". Connect the other hose to Port "H". With the cylinder rod completely retracted, operate the pump so pressure oil goes to Port "D". Check the pressure gauge indication. The indication on the gauge must be between 6000-6400 psi (41 500-44 250 kPa). If pressure is not within this range, release the pressure from the cylinder and remove Plug "G". Turn the Allen head screw that is behind Plug "G" in to increase the pressure and out to decrease the pressure. The setting (position) can be checked with the plug removed. Hold a towel over the open port when the pump is operated.
No. 2-Retract Hold Valve Adjustment
Make sure the cylinder rod is retracted completely. Use the 6V1389 Connector and 6V1390 Coupling to connect the hose with the gauge to Port "A". Connect the other hose to Port "D".
One 4J7533 O-Ring must be used with the 6V1389 Fitting.Operate the pump so pressure oil goes to Port "A". Check the pressure gauge indication. The indication on the gauge must be between 5400-5600 psi (37 250-38 690 kPa). To adjust the pressure, loosen the locknut and turn the screw in Valve "B" in to increase the pressure and out to decrease the pressure.
