Information:
Probable Cause
The circuit from terminal "R" on the alternator to socket number "8" of the 12-pin receptacle connector of electronic control module (9) is shorted to the positive circuit of the batteries. While the engine is off, turn battery disconnect switch (1) to the ON position and the engine start switch to the ON position. There should be no voltage between socket number "8" and socket number "2" of the 12-pin receptacle connector on electronic control module (9). If a voltage is present, check for a short to the positive circuit of the battery. If a short does not exist, the alternator is malfunctioning. Repair the alternator or replace the alternator.Problem
After the engine start switch is turned to the ON position, and before the engine is started the following set of problems occurs.
Warning light (4) will flash.
Status light for the test switch does not go on.
Action light (2) will flash.
Electric drive (8) runs for three seconds. After the engine is started, warning light (4) and action light (2) turn off.Probable Causes
The bulb in the status light has failed.
The circuit is open between magnetic switch (11) and the status light.
The current limiting resistor has failed. While the engine is off, turn battery disconnect switch (1) and the engine start switch to the OFF position. Check for continuity in the circuit between the terminal for the status light and the large terminal with the small electrical wire on magnetic switch (11). If this circuit is open, repair this circuit or replace this circuit.Problem
After the engine is started, warning light (4) and action light (2) do not stop flashing. While the engine is running the following problems occur:
The status light is off.
Electric drive (8) is off.
The action alarm is on.Probable Causes
The connector at electronic control module (9) is not properly coupled.
There is no voltage to electronic control module (9). This is measured on the 12-pin receptacle connector from pin number "2" to socket number "3".
Electronic control module (9) has failed.
Warning light (4) has failed.Three Second Powerup Test is OK
Problem
After the engine is started the following problems occur.
Warning light (4) and action light (2) do not stop flashing.
The status light is off.
Electric drive (8) is off.
The action alarm is on.Probable Causes
Electronic control module (9) is not receiving voltage from the terminal "R" of the alternator. While the engine is running and the connector is disconnected, check the voltage between socket number "8" and socket number "2" of the receptacle. If this voltage is less than 10 volts, check the circuit between this receptacle and the terminal "R" of the alternator for shorts or opens. If this circuit is OK, repair the alternator or replace the alternator.
The circuit from the socket number "11" of electronic control module (9) to monitoring panel (5) is open. While the engine is off, turn battery disconnect switch (1) and the engine start switch to the OFF position. Disconnect the connector. Check the continuity between socket number "11" and socket number "17". If continuity does not exist, repair this electrical wire or replace
