Be careful when the injection pumps are disassembled. Do not cause damage to the surface of the plunger. The plunger and barrel for each pump are made as a set. Do not put the plunger of one pump into the barrel of another pump. If one part has wear, install a complete new pump assembly. Be careful when the plunger is put into the bore of the barrel.
14. Remove bolt (25), bracket (27) and link (26).15. Put identification on right rack and left rack. Remove two racks (28). 16. Remove twelve spacers (29) and twelve lifter assembly (30). 17. Remove camshaft (31) from the housing.
Be careful not to damage the camshaft bearings as the camshaft is removed.
18. Remove dowel (32) and shaft (33) with Tool (D). Remove two bearings (34), two lip-type seals (35) (not shown) and two bearings (36). 19. Remove two rack bearings (37).20. Remove the camshaft bearings with Tool (E).21. Remove O-ring seal (38). The following steps are for the assembly of the fuel injection pump housing. 22. Install Tool (F) as shown. Install two rack bearings with driver until the shoulder of the driver makes contact with the fixture. 23. Install the camshaft front bearing (39) with Tool (E). Install the bearing until it is 1.02 0.51 mm (.040 .020) from front surface (40) of the pump housing. Install all camshaft bearings with the bearing joint in area "X". This will put the oil hole in area "Y". For more complete illustration of bearing installation, make reference to Specifications Manual, SENR5516. 24. Install center bearing (41) with Tool (E) until the rear edge of the bearing is 127.00 0.51 mm (5.000 .020 in) from rear surface (42) of the pump housing.25. Install rear bearing (43) with Tool (E) until it is 4.83 0.51 mm (.190 .020 in) from rear surface (42). 26. Install two bearings (34) with Tool (G). Install the upper bearing until it is even with the top of the bearing bore and the bottom bearing until it is even with the bottom of the bearing bore.27. Install shaft (33) until it is extended 16.76 0.51 mm (.660 .020 in) from the top of the pump housing. 28. Install bearing (36) with Tool (H) until the distance from the inside of the bearing to the outer face of the pump housing boss is 38.23 0.51 mm (1.505 .020 in). 29. Install seal (35) (not shown) with Tool (H). Install the seal even with the surface of the housing and with the lip towards the outside.30. Install bearing (36) (not shown) with Tool (H) until the distance between two bearings (36) is 34.80 0.51 mm (1.370 .020 in). 31. Install seal (35) (not shown) with Tool (I). Install the seal until it is even with the surface of the pump housing and with the lip toward the outside as shown.32. Install dowel (32) until it is extended 12.2
