(1) Instrument panel and cover. 1. Remove instrument panel and lower cover (1).2. Locate the flat surface of the metallic plate which is at the left of the steering column, below the steering tilt adjuster knob.3. Using the neutral start control module mounting holes as a template, mark two points on the metallic plate towards the bottom left corner. The points should be parallel to the bottom edge of the plate.4. Measure the distance between centers of the two marks. The distance between centers must be 39.6 mm (1.5 in).5. Drill two 9 mm (.35 in) diameter holes through the marks made previously on the metallic plate.6. Hold the neutral start control module underneath the plate. Line up the control module holes with the drilled holes and insert two 8C-3121 Bolts from the top, through the holes. Fasten the bolts using two 6V-8189 Nuts and 8T-4224 Washers. Always use an insertion and extraction tool such as a 4C-4074 Contact Removal Tool to pull and install wire harness pins, contacts, or sockets.1. Remove 40 pin connector (2) from the shift control box.

View A - Wire Harness Pin Assignments2. Pull pin number 2 (202-BK wire) from the 40 pin connector and insert it into pin number 4 of the 8 pin connector on the new harness. Take the 202-BK wire from pin number 5 of the 8 pin connector and insert it into pin number 2 of the 40 pin connector.3. Pull pin number 3 (307-OR wire) from the 40 pin connector and insert it into pin number 1 of the 8 pin connector. Take the 202-BK wire from pin number 6 of the 8 pin connector and insert it into pin 3 of the 40 pin connector.4. Pull pin number 4 (306-GN wire) from the 40 pin connector and insert it into pin number 2 of the 8 pin connector. Take the 202-BK wire from pin number 7 of the 8 pin connector and insert it into pin number 4 of the 40 pin connector.5. Pull pin number 38 (G763-PU wire) from the 40 pin connector and insert it into pin number 3 of the 8 pin connector. Take the G763-PU wire from pin number 8 of the 8 pin connector and insert it into pin number 38 of the 40 pin connector.6. Re-install the 40 pin connector into the shift control box.7. Insert the 6 pin connector of the neutral start control module through the existing hole in the vertical plate to the left of the control module.8. Mate the 6 pin connector of the new harness to the 6 pin connector of the neutral start control module.9. Re-install the instrument panel.
