Component Code: 7620SUBJECT: Product Link May Cause the Loader Application Software to Fail During the Flashing Process
PROBLEM:
In order to update the PHS Valves on Telehandlers, Loader Application Software (235-4766 Implement Software Group) must be flashed onto the Telehandler?s Machine Control. If Product Link is installed on the Telehandler when this software is flashed onto the Telehandler?s Machine Control, problems may occur.
Currently, the Loader Application Software (235-4766 Implement Software Group) is used to flash pilot valve software. Product Link may cause the Loader Application Software to fail during the flashing process. When the Loader Application Software fails during the flashing process, flashing will cease and the PHS Valve ECM may be boot-only (not flashed). Repeated attempts to flash (with Product Link installed) will result in the same failure mode.
SOLUTION:
Flashing Procedure for the Telescopic Handler Machine Control when Product Link Is Installed
1. Log into the Telehandler with ET. Select the Product Link ECM First.
2. Go to the configuration screen and change the Product Link parameter "Maintenance Mode" to ON (first configuration parameter).
3. Select the A4:M1 (TH###) controller in ET and go to Winflash.
4. Flash 235-4766.fls onto the A4:M1 controller.
5. When flashing is completed, go to ET and observe progress.
6. When flashing of submodules is completed, go back into Winflash.
7. Flash the A4:M1 with the telehandler?s PROD 6 software.
8. When the flashing is completed, go to ET and select the Product Link ECM.
9. Go to the configuration screen and change the parameter "Maintenance Mode" to OFF (first configuration parameter).
10. Exit ET.
Placing Product Link into Maintenance Mode causes Product Link to cease all data collection efforts on the data link. This will disable all information requests and allow the valve loader software to load properly. Maintenance Mode has another unique feature. If a technician happens to place Product Link into Maintenance Mode and forget to return it to Normal Mode, Product Link will automatically revert to Normal Mode after 24 hours. After 24 hours, normal data collection will resume by Product Link. Any machine event or diagnostics that occur while Product Link is in Maintenance Mode will not be reported until Maintenance Mode is turned OFF.
