Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install the O-ring seal and nut (9) .
Turn over primary fuel filter base (2) .

Install spring (8) (not shown).
Install element retainer (7) .
Use Tool (A) (not shown) to install retaining ring (6) .

Use Tool (A) (not shown) to install retaining ring (5) on primary fuel filter base (2) .
Install gasket (4) .

Install fuel filter element assembly (3) .
Install primary fuel filter base (2) on fuel filter case assembly (1) .End By: Install the primary fuel filter. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fuel Filter (Primary) and Fuel Filter Base - Install" for the correct procedure.
