Raise the temperature of bearing assembly (25). Install bearing assembly (25) on pinion shaft (22).

Illustration 26 g03875100Note: Pack bearing (25) with 60 gm (2 oz) of Tooling (G). Also pack 60 gm (2 oz) of Tooling (G) in cavity (X) above the bearing before assembly.
Using a suitable press, install pinion shaft (22) and the bearing assembly into housing assembly (12).

Install retaining ring (21). Use a suitable press to adjust pinion shaft (22) downward in order to equalize pressure on the bearings (23). Pinion (22) must spin freely in bearings (23).

Install plates (20). Apply Tooling (D) to the bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 6.9 0.7 N m (61 6 lb in)

Install planetary gear (18), bearings (17), thrust washers (19), and shaft (14) into the planetary gear carrier.
Install spring pin (15) thru the planetary gear carrier and into shaft (14). Repeat Steps 6 through 7 for the remaining planetary gear assemblies.

Apply a thing coat of Tooling (C) between mating surface of pinion shaft (22) and planetary carrier assembly (13). Install planetary carrier assembly (13).

Apply a thin coat of Tooling (D) the mating surface of ring gear (11) and housing (12). Align ring gear (11) on the dowels. Install ring gear (11).
Install sun gear (10).

Drive spring pin (9) into carrier assembly (2) and into shaft (8). Install thrust washer (7) and bearing assembly (6).

Install planetary gear (6), thrust washer (5), and retaining ring (4). Repeat Steps 11 through 12 for the remaining planetary gears.
