Information:
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.Make sure all of the work tools have been lowered to the ground, and the oil is cool before removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Machine Preparation
Park the machine on a smooth, level surface. Reference: Refer to the Service Manual module Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" for the machine that is being serviced.
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.
In order to access the hydraulic fan pump, raise the cover that is behind the cab.

Typical Example of a Signal Hose to a Pump Control Valve
Disconnect the signal hose from the pump control valve for the hydraulic fan pump. Install tooling (E) between the pump control valve and the signal hose. Install tooling (B) to tooling (E).

Location of the Pressure Tap
Install tooling (A) on the pressure tap that is indicated in Illustration 2. Connect tooling (B) to tooling (A). Test and Adjust the Margin Pressure for the Fan Pump
Engage the parking brake.
Shift the transmission to neutral.
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.
Start the engine and run the engine at high idle.
Observe both test gauges. The pressure difference between the two test gauges is the margin pressure. Note: The temperature of the engine coolant must be below 70 °C (160 °F).
The margin pressure for the standard pump and the high ambient pump is 2103 103 kPa (305 15 psi).
Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position.
If the margin pressure is correct proceed to Section "Test and Adjust the Cutoff Pressure". If the margin pressure is not correct, proceed to Step 9 for instructions to adjust the margin pressure.
Ensure that the engine start switch is in the OFF position.

Remove cap (5) from the pump control. Loosen locking nut (4) and turn the screw for adjustment in order to change the pressure setting. Turn the screw for adjustment clockwise in order to increase the pressure setting. Turn the screw for adjustment screw counterclockwise in order to decrease the pressure setting.
Tighten locking nut (4). Install cap (5). Torque for the locking nut and the cap is 21 N
